You asked, we answered: What are some cute ways to wear our favorite summer dresses in the colder weather? — karl-and-coco
There are three easy ways to transition a summer dress into fall. I like to think about “The Three L’s: Legs, Layers, and Length.
Legs: When covering your legs, you don’t always need to find the thickest pair of knit tights. Lightweight materials will be fine, especially if you add a pair of over the knee boots. Basic black or dark brown tights can be worn with most outfits so grab a few quality pairs so you don’t have to do too much shopping.
Layers: Never forget to layer up. Jean jackets, heavy knit cardigans or warm wool blazers are the simplest options that will help keep you warm. Be prepared for the lightweight material of a summer dress to blow easily in the wind. It’s bound to happen. When layering, search for thick materials that won’t let any of that unwanted cold air in!
Length: If the summer dress your are searching for is above your knees (as most are), find a knit cardigan that stops at your waist. If you cinch your waist with a skinny belt, you’ll keep your shape visible beneath all of these chunky layers.
Hope this helps!
